Year 1 Co-teacher

I was born in the Far East, in the city of Blagoveshchensk, which is bisected by the Amur River, marking the border with China. In my family, nearly everyone is a language teacher, which immersed me in a rich tapestry of foreign languages—Chinese, French, and English. I completed my undergraduate studies at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) with a degree in Design, followed by a master's program in "Contemporary Design in Teaching Visual Arts and Technology in Schools." Additionally, I underwent professional retraining at the National Academy for Professional Development in Education, earning qualifications as a preschool educator and primary school teacher.

My pedagogical journey commenced as a teaching assistant in the master's program for Design and Animation at HSE during my senior year. Then I ventured into preschool education as an assistant to an English instructor, where I sought to absorb the knowledge of seasoned colleagues and gradually evolved into a bilingual and then fully English-speaking educator.

At the core of my work with preschool children lies the principle of learning through play. I approach lesson planning with intentionality, taking into account the necessity for holistic development—encompassing not only listening and speaking skills but also socialization within a group, fine and gross motor skills, and most importantly, maintaining engagement in learning. As part of the practical component of my lessons, I frequently organize creative activities such as group projects, modeling, collage-making, and stencil printing; the element of novelty aids children in vividly retaining the subject matter.

The most exhilarating aspect of my work is cultivating a harmonious and inspiring atmosphere within the group. To sustain children's interest in learning, it is vital to provide them with opportunities to experiment and create situations conducive to independent discovery. I find it essential to observe how individualized interactions with each child intertwine with group activities and projects, allowing me to witness the development of their identity, uniqueness, interests, and strengths.

Creativity remains a significant facet of my life: I avidly read about design, relish acquiring high-quality book editions and comics, and stay attuned to the animation industry.
