Ms Inese
Art teacher

My name is Inese, and I am an artist and educator from Latvia. I graduated in 2020 from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after V. Surikov, where I specialised in monumental painting. Since 2014, I have been actively participating in exhibitions and art residencies and have organised art workshops, plein airs, art residencies, and exhibitions in both Russia and Latvia. I became a member of the Moscow Union of Artists in 2023, and starting in 2024, I became a member of the Union of Mosaic Artists of Russia.

I have a deep passion for studying ancient Byzantine painting traditions and ecclesiastical art, including iconography, frescoes, and mosaics. I am involved with a group of icon painters at the Workshop of St. Theodora in Moscow.

In 2020, my husband, sculptor Mikhail Plokhotsky, and I founded the creative studio "Sidurka." Here, I conduct classes in painting, drawing, and composition. Our studio is located in the historic workshop of the renowned Moscow artist Vadim Sidur, where we have preserved much of its original atmosphere and interior. Additionally, I teach at the Latvian language school at the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Russia.

I am committed to lifelong learning and teaching. Before moving to Russia, I learned Russian and completed a Bachelor's program in International Management at the University of Latvia. Through the ERASMUS program, I also spent an academic year at the American University in Bulgaria.
